Halloween is by far my least favorite holiday! I wish I could just erase it, but I can’t, so I’ll post something about a great website that I found about Thanksgiving.
You can use this for an elementary aged child. Either have them fill it out or do it with them.
Enjoy!

The best homeschooling resources can be found in many places? After all these years of homeschooling I would have to say that the evaluation of best resources depends on the individual parent and children. One parent might think that a certain website, curriculum or book is the best resource, but Read more »

I thought I would share some of the homeschool curriculum review that I have done. I’ve been homeschooling for over 12 years, so I have pretty much seen almost everything that is available to use for resources.
Here’s the first one – it’s on Sonlight Curriculum.

Finally a free foreign language learning site that teaches you a language with native speakers and interactive vocabulary and audio. You just click on the language you want to learn and then go through the lessons. I would suggest using the audio lessons unless you already know how to pronounce the words. This is a very handy site for me in trying to teach my children a foreign language. The language is learned by playing games which makes it so much more fun. I’m excited about this one! http://www.digitaldialects.com/index.htm

Someone wrote and asked me a question about what to do if you feel burned out on homeschooling or if you aren’t sure if you’re doing too many unnecessary things in homeschooling. Here is my answer. I thought I would share it with all of you too:
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I do feel like I am burned out sometimes and I do often feel like I am not doing enough. I know almost every homeschool Mom feels like that at one time or another. When I feel burned out, I take my own advice and switch things up a bit for a couple of days. Maybe we will switch to a different room or turn on music or just learn in a different way. I think we all need the variety.

Someone sent me this Virtual Owl Pellet Dissection. It’s pretty cool! You take apart an owl pellet and then it tells you the names of the bones and where it fits for reconstruction. This is a lot better than me trying to figure out what part it is and where it fits. I’m going to email this link to my children and tell them they better do this or I’ll get some REAL owl pellets instead!

Want to be inspired to homeschool? Check out this page of famous homeschoolers. http://www.homeschool-how-to.com/famous-homeschoolers.html Some of them overcame overwhelming odds and some were just ordinary people who wanted to help their children learn in the best way possible for them. The football player was interesting to me since I thought homeschoolers couldn’t play high school sports, but I guess in Florida you can. You’ll find interesting information and even books that you can get for even more information on these famous homeschoolers.
Maybe some day your child can be listed here.:))
