All About Reading – What Am I?
As part of the All About Spelling program, All About Reading coordinates and expands this great spelling program. Their newest book What Am I? was just released on April 1st.
Once again we were pleasantly surprised when we received the book as part of the TOS homeschool crew. The book is hardcover and is a collection of short stories that pick up where the Beehive Reader left off.
The Beehive Reader is designed to work with the first 14 lessons of level 2 of All About Spelling. This book moves on from there. The stories are longer but still follow along with the words that your child will be learning in the program for level 2.
All the programs – All About Spelling and each of the readers in this program can be used on their own. You don’t NEED to use them together, but you can.
What Am I? is a great collection of short stories that uses the same great illustrations and cute characters that the first book had. The book has 8 stories and a chapter at the end with some poems added just for fun.
I’ve had a little trouble getting my son to read this book after he was so enthusiastic about the first book. There are more words on the pages and he has to work a little harder to get through the story, so he is not as overjoyed with this book.
We are working through it and I’m sure one day he will look back and see how easy and fun it is to read through these stories. I’m sure he’ll want me to keep these around so his kids will be able to read them too.
What Am I? can be purchased from All About Spelling for $19.95 (soon to release All About Reading program!). It will be a wonderful addition to any homeschool library.
As a member of the Homeschool Crew, I was given this product to review. I was not paid for this post and do not have to return the product to the vendor. The opinions expressed in this post are those of the blog owner (me).
