All About Spelling Beehive Reader
As part of the TOS homeschool crew, I was able to review the book Beehive Reader. We loved the All About Spelling program, so I figured I was getting another high quality product. Little did I know how much my son would love this reader.
We have been using the Pathway Readers but I didn’t realize how important it was to have good pictures in a reader until I saw my 8 year old son’s reaction the the Beehive Reader. I gave him the book to look over and he instantly made these comments:
“I love this book. It’s so small and there are not a lot of words on a page. There are really good pictures. This book makes me happy. I want another book like it. I’m excited for school work for the first time (because of this book).” WOW! What a reaction! This book has certainly made an impression here….
I think the pictures and the fact that there are less words on each page made this a far superior choice for us over the Pathway Readers. I didn’t realize that those books didn’t show any pictures of the people in the story. Hmmm…I wonder why. Well, it’s all Beehive Readers for us now.
The books were written by Marie Rippel with Renee LaTulippe and are part of the All About Spelling program. The books can be used with that program or on their own and are $19.95 each.
I can say that in all my years of homeschooling I don’t think I have ever seen a reaction to a book like I have seen with the Beehive Reader. I wish I had these books when my girls were little. My son wants to read 2 stories a day! That has never happened before.
Here is a picture of one of the pages from the Beehive Reader 1. So cute!
