Amazing Bible Timeline

I had the opportunity to review the Amazing Bible timeline. I must say it is quite a large map measuring about 36″ x 44″, but with the circular format it takes up a lot less room than a regular timeline that covers 6,000 years of history.

My family enjoyed seeing how long and short each lineage of Bible characters lasted and what denominations sprang from them. The color coding definitely makes that easier to see. All Adam’s decendents are in yellow and then each of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham and Japeth are listed by color.

I enjoyed it because you can see what was going on in different parts of the world for a certain period of history at a quick glance. If you are studying the Civil War you can follow that across and see that the French and British War was going on at the same time. I’m sure you can find that information other places, but this map makes it quick and easy.

I don’t usually read the other homeschool crew blogs before I write my review, but I received and email from the folks at the Amazing Bible timeline, that made me curious. Many of the reviews that I read said that the timeline was presented with a Mormon slant to it. Yet, the publishers refuted those comments on their website here -  http://bibletimeline.net/theldsquestionandussherstablequestions.html

I didn’t see any Mormon slant on my timeline, but then maybe I’m not as smart as some of these other gals. If there is a Mormon slant then this shouldn’t be called a “Bible” timeline. As a Christian I believe that Mormonism does not teach the Bible as it was written. I don’t mean this to offend anyone, it’s just my opinion.

I would think that any intelligent Christian can read this timeline and get what they need out of it and be able to look past any slant if there is indeed a slant. I think this is a cool resource and will keep it for reference.

To get your own Bible timeline map, you can order yours here: http://www.bibletimeline.net/  The cost is $29.95 and you get 2 free downloads with it – Interactive maps of the holy land and Digital version of the Amazing Bible timeline ($14.97 value).

If you wish to read what other members of the homeschool crew wrote about this timeline, you can view those here:  http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/HomeschoolCrew/726414/

If you’re interested, I did some digging around about the supposed discrepancies. You can click over to my blog and take a look.

Thanks, Katrina. All the other blogs I looked at where rather vague about their comments. You did a great job of explaining the issue. Heidi
