Apologia homeschool company has undergone some changes this last year and have partnered with several homeschool authors. I don’t know if Apologia Press is new but I do know that they have recently published the updated version of The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling by Debra Bell.

I remember owning this book many years ago and was surprised to see this book in my mailbox for review. I really liked it and found that it was well organized and easy to find my way around in the book.

It is set up so that you can read all the way through it or just go to the section you want to know about. Now that homeschooling has been around for a long time, we are getting to hear from homeschool moms who have graduates. Debra Bell is one of those moms. She has 4 homeschool graduates. It’s great to hear that it can be done and that she didn’t “ruin” her children along the way.

Many times homeschool moms think that they can’t homeschool all the way through or that homeschooling might turn out to be a bad experience for everyone involved. Debra Bell wove her own stories of homeschooling throughout the book and it was refreshing to hear these.

Some of the subjects she covers in the book include: how to tell if homeschooling is for you, how to choose curriculum, how to prevent burnout, what to teach, how to teach teenagers, and what resources should you be using for homeschooling.

She gave very practical advice throughout the book with bold headings to guide you through. This book has help for new and veterans alike and offers something for everyone. She has a great resource guide at the back of the book too.
