Career Exploration for High School Students Review

Career exploration for High School students can be fun and exciting. After all these years of home schooling, your child can start to investigate what it is he/she will be able to do the rest of their life.

The little weE-book published by the Old Schoolhouse Magazine called Career Exploration for High School Students  introduces what you can do with your child to help them investigate this area.

It’s a very small e-book, so it just touches on this topic giving you the 4-steps career exploration process and helpful resources. This will give you a springboard to use to start a more in-depth career exploration process.

The author taught a home school co-op class to 17 home school students and explains in this booklet what she did with them and what resources she used. Some of the resources were free but some of them had a cost. As with anything, if you want a more in-depth career assessment, you are probably going to have to pay at least a small fee to get a valid assessment. Getting a complete career assessment might save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

When your child can mix what they know about themselves with a career assessment, then they can make some informed decisions about what classes or programs they should take. By having a good idea of what they like and what they want to pursue, they will hopefully avoid taking unnecessary classes that are not in their field of interest.

In this booklet the author explains that career exploration is more of a process that just a point. She helps you think about finding several career choices and then building goals from there. For just a couple dollars, this booklet is a handy resource to have on hand for your child to use either in Junior High or High School. It can help those that have no idea what they want to do or those who want to refine their career search even further.

It was fun for me, as a Mom, to take some of the assessments and see how my jobs fit my personality.
