Discount Abeka

Is there such a thing as discount Abeka curriculum? It seems to me from all my searching on the Internet that it probably doesn’t exist unless you are willing to buy it used.

I know discount Abeka is easy to find on ebay if you want to buy used books. Maybe there are a few people out there that bought a curriculum package and then either decided not to homeschool or decided to use a different program. They want to get their money back and ebay is the place to do that.

Although it would be great to find an unused curriculum package for sale, on ebay I’m afraid you will pay pretty close to retail.  They are very much in demand for some reason.

I saw one site (Coventant Resource Center) that offered buy 1 get one 1/2 off on their Abeka books for the month of February. I don’t know if that is on complete kits or just random books that you might need.

Another site had 10% off Abeka Science kits. I think these kits were produced by an independent company, thus the ability to offer a discount.  The kits look good and I must say this is a great idea. Who wants to go and gather all those materials for Science when you can just have a complete kit on hand (kind of like Sonlight Science kits).

When you create a Bible based curriculum and you know how to market it to the homeschool community, many people want it. When many people want something, you have a hard time finding it for a good price. Even Rainbow Resource, a huge discount homeschool book supplier doesn’t even carry Abeka!

So the moral of the story is that you’ll have to REALLY keep your eyes pealed on the Internet to find an occassional discount Abeka book. For the rest of us, we’ll just have to be satisfied to either pay retail or get our discount Abeka used. (
