Guardian Angel Publishing

I received several review copies of ebooks published by Guardian Angel Publishing. The titles I reviewed were Rainbow Sheep, Hamster Holidays, Earthquake, Gifts from God and No Bones About It.

These were engaging books that can be viewed on your computer or printed off. They are mainly for ages 0-12. I printed off Earthquake and No Bones About It because we wanted to use them for Science. I read the other books off the computer to my son. We have a big computer screen and he enjoyed looking at the great pictures and seeing a book on the computer for a change. He said they were “very interesting.”

The Hamster Holidays was a cute book about what some cute hamster characters were doing every month of the year. The book had all the nouns in a blue color and the adjectives in red. This was fun for me to see and point out because we are working on nouns and adjectives. Seeing them highlighted in the book made the light come on for my son who is 8. I think he understands the relationship much better now. There are some explanations of nouns and adjectives along with some puzzles at the end of the book complete with the answers. The only negative I could see was that one month the hamsters when to Ghost Park and had one of them in a scary costume.

The Gifts from God book was neat because it had a Bible verse on one side and a gift that God gives us on the other side with great pictures of children. The Rainbow Sheep book was illustrated with felted wool for all the pictures. It was a cute story but did mention the person talking to a rainbow and made mention of mermaids. If this type of talk goes against some of your values, you might want to choose a different book from their collection. There were instructions at the end of the book on how to felt with wool, make felted soap and how to make wool sheep like what was in the pictures.

The Earthquake book and No Bones About It were my favorites in this selection. Being a homeschool Mom, I’m always looking for fun ways to teach ordinary things. The Bones book went from feet to head and rhymed all the way through it teaching the names of the bones in a fun and engaging manner. I need to come up with a song to go along with it so we can be sure to remember it. I loved the pictures and the factoids that gave extra facts that I had never heard before about bones. The Earthquake book also had great factoids and talked on a level that children could easily understand. They had great cartoons that made the facts understandable.

When looking on the Guardian Angel website, I noticed that they have quite a selection of books. They have books about Health and Hygiene, Animals and Pets, iKids play for iPhones and iPods, Littlest Angels, 17 personalized ebooks for kids, Academic Wings (ebooks on subjects that emphasize Grammar, Health, Math, History, Science and Reading), Angel to Angel (books written and illustrated by kids for kids), Wings of Faith (faith-based books), Chapbooks for tweens, sneak peeks into some of their books, and a collection of free ebooks and coloring pages.

I encourage you to check out the Guardian Angel Publishing site and get some ebooks there for learning or fun or both.
