Homeschool History Video

I recently found a great homeschool history video that I thought was entertaining enough to hold my teens attention, yet educational enough to teach them something.

I emailed it to each of my teenage daughters and told them to watch it on their own and email me back what they thought of it.  I even learned something here.

The video explains the differences between the different types of government. It explains, with lots of pictures, what the different types of government are and how they fit on the scale from left to right.

It’s only about 10 minutes long, but it does a great job of discussing what a Democratic Republic is and why we need to keep it.

History videos can sometimes be boring or long and drawn out but this one is pretty concise and to the point. I like the fact that it shows you the effects of the different types of government using pictures. The pictures of where each type of government on the scale from left to right were very helpful too.

They say you should use as many senses as possible when you teach anything. You could probably have your child draw out a sketch of what was shown on the screen indicating how far left or right each type of government is and how that affects people.

The video mentioned above can be seen at www.wimp.com/thegovernment

I liked the quotes from famous Americans and the confusion that has been spread about leftists, rights, and moderates. I had never heard the information about the scale between 0% government and 100% government. They went through the whole spectrum of the 5 types of government in a very interesting manner.

Hopefully this homeschool History video will help your children understand the mistakes of the past and help them learn what a good government looks like.
