Homeschool Mentoring in Action
I recently received a review copy of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine’s new weE-book on homeschool mentoring in action. It’s called Missing in Action or Mentoring in Action?
If you’re not familiar with weE-books, basically they are just books that you view on your computer that are shorter and smaller than the typical ebooks that you can view on the screen. These are a great way to save on shipping and get a little bit of knowledge in a short amount of time.
This book is about the need for younger homeschool moms to receive homeschool mentoring. I’m in that “older” stage of life where younger moms are coming to me and asking questions, so this book was of interest to me.
The author talks about how easy it is for older moms to get caught up in their own lives and not share some of their knowledge and experience with younger moms.
She suggests using homeschool conventions to accomplish this task, but I think she could have expanded this thought and given ideas of ways to mentor younger moms without using any extra time from our already busy schedules.
WeE-books are designed to be short. If you’re looking for a ton of information, you won’t find it there. If you’re looking for a bit of information on a hot topic but don’t have much time to read or research, then weE-books are for you.
Maybe this author didn’t have much space to write much more. If you’re feeling convicted about needing to help younger homeschool moms and need a push, then this book can give you a few ideas.
It might help you realize the need to fit some mentoring into your schedule if you are not already doing that. If you’re planning on attending a homeschool convention in the near future, this book will give you some ideas on how to help younger moms around you while you are there.
The fact is, homeschool mentoring is needed. Will we be missing in action or mentoring in action? The choice is yours…
