Homeschool Multiplication Help
Here is a website I found that is really fun for children (especially boys) to help reinforce their times tables. You can download the program for free. They have to answer multiplication facts before they can open doors in the castle. This program makes you want to enter the answers so that you can keep going and continue to open doors and find your way through the dungeon.
The only thing I wanted to mention is that it has kind of a dark castle theme with a ogre type man that comes out with times facts on the front of his shirt that you need to solve. If your children would be afraid of this you might want to check it out first.
There is a free version you can use for as long as you want. There is also a small fee for a more expanded version that you can get if your children are really into this and want to progress further. http://www.timesattack.com
Hope you find this useful. Let me know what you think. I’ve had lots of people use this with great success.
Make sure you don’t overlook the idea of skip counting too. This can greatly help your children when learning their multiplication facts. It helps them count “the fast way”. We use it all the time here.
One of the best ways to learn skip counting is by using music. Sara Jordan’s Multiplication Unplugged is a great way to combine skip counting and music for the greatest effect. The songs are easy to follow, upbeat, not rocky, and are varied in their style. Many of the music CDs I have listened to for skip counting have either been almost all the same music, hard to follow or a style of music I don’t want my children to listen to. Check out Sara Jordan’s CDs and let me know what you think.
