Homeschool Planner

I thought you would enjoy this free homeschool planner that I made up. This is what I use every year to plan out what each child will be doing and what books and resources I need to purchase for each of them. Usually that list is pretty short since finances are usually tight.

I like to purchase resources that are tailored to my children, so I don’t purchase a packaged curriculum. Hence I have to think about each subject for each child.

I tell people not to get overwhelmed when planning their homeschool year. You should start with the basics. Focus on reading, writing and arithmetic first. Get those in place and then focus on Science and History. When those 5 basic subjects are in place, then move on to any electives you want to add in.

I know I always want to know how other moms do things, so I thought maybe you would enjoy looking over my shoulder and seeing my planner.

It’s pretty simple and straightforward. Then again, simple and straightforward is a good thing! Homeschooling is not rocket science. Don’t try to complicate it by stressing and getting uptight. Most importantly, pray about every decision! Let me say that again…. Pray about every decision!!

Just because a curriculum works for one family, that doesn’t mean it is the right thing for your family. God knows you and your children best. Trust Him to lead and guide you into and through a great homeschool year. He hasn’t brought you this far to leave you hanging.

In case you need some help getting started, I’ve been homeschooling for 16 years. Here’s a small list of my favorite books. Let me know your favorites too.
