Homeschool Reviews
Sometimes it’s fun to look over reviews of homeschool curriculum written by another homeschool Mom. It’s good to research something before you buy it especially if it is going to cost you a lot of money!
Don’t discount the power of prayer here, though. Getting advice from other people is great, but getting advice from the God who created you and your children is even better! He knows you and your children better than anyone and knows what you need (and don’t need). Seek counsel – yes. But seek counsel from the God of the Universe before you buy anything. It might save you years of frustration in the long run.
Just because one curriculum, book or resource is the answer for your friend’s family doesn’t mean that it will be best for your family. Choose wisely and adapt where you need to.
Just because a curriculum is expensive doesn’t mean it is the best. Just because a curriculum is cheap doesn’t mean it won’t be the best thing for you.
I believe that knowing yours and your child’s learning style is essential when deciding what to use for homeschooling. I have recommended learning style assessments in the past and still believe they are very important. These tests do not just give visual, kinestetic, and auditory results but go much deeper and broader than that. I encourage you to use these for yourself and your children. I know my children were able to understand themselves AND each other better after taking these tests. You can also get a $5 off coupon if you use the link here.
The reviews that I have written up can be found here. They include Switched on Schoolhouse, Robinson Curriculum, Math U See, Abeka, Sonlight and a few others. I will be adding to this list as I have time.
If you have a review that you would like to share with others, just let me know and I will read it over and let you know if I will be able to post it on my site.
