How to Homeschool Kindergarten

Over the past year I have had several people come to me asking me how to homeschool Kindergarten. After you have been homeschooling a few years, I guess people think you know what you are doing

Hopefully I have learned a few things along the way and I have some things I can share with people. After writing and researching for a while I have written down some thoughts I have about how to homeschool Kindergarten.

I have 4 children, the youngest of whom I homeschooled for Kindergarten last year. The thoughts are fresh in my mind. We had a great year.

Some of the basic priniciples I use for Kindergarten are reading to my child, taking them to interesting places (nothing complicated here, just a few little field trips to normal places), answering their questions,  and playing games with them.

I have some favorite resources I use that I categorize in boxes on my homeschool shelf. Many people think they have to change from being a parent to being a public school teacher when their child turns 5. You have brought your child SO far already. Keep going. You have taught your child how to walk, talk, eat, use the bathroom, dress themselves, and a whole host of other skills. Homeschooling Kindergarten is not rocket science. It’s simple!!
