The Kinderbach program is one that I hadn’t heard of before but was able to review as part of the homeschool crew.  What we reviewed is the online membership program that teaches your child about music and the piano using videos (that you watch on your computer) and activity pages along with some hands on learning.

You get access to the site for a year and can work your way through levels 1-6 at your own pace. All the levels amount to 60 weeks of instruction with 4 lessons (videos) per week.

It was very easy to access the site, get to the week we were on, and view our videos from there. My son is 8, so he is a little old for some of the preschool theme, but he still enjoyed watching most of the videos and doing some of the activity pages.

He learned a great deal about the piano and still has the character page standing above the keys on the piano. I liked the way that the teacher related to my child. Yes, it had a preschool flair but her positive attitude was contagious and we liked the way she involved the children by pretending to talk to them as if they were her only student.

The lessons were varied enough that they were not boring at all. The whole theme reminded me of Blues Clues (the TV show that used to be on). It was a very safe and interactive format where kids felt comfortable.

The Piano Pals were introduced throughout the videos at various intervals. There is a train station theme relating to the black keys on the piano being the homes of the piano pals. The Eagle was the “E” key, etc.

The printables with the lessons were good too. We enjoyed the coloring and cutting and pasting. There was also some letter and sound recognition mixed in with the videos and printables.

They used both voice and piano to familiarize the children with the music staff and patterns in music. The children also learn hand and finger positions on the piano.

Overall, Kinderbach is a “solid curriculum”, with “fun characters”, using “multi-learning styles, engaging video, hands on pages, music theory games, and a 30 day guarantee.”

The program is for children ages 3-7 and provides 240 lessons (about 22 hours) spaced out over 60 weeks. Kinderbach could easily be used for 1 or 2 years. You can pay $19.99 per month or $95.88 which comes out to be $7.99 per month billed all at once. What a great savings if you purchase all at once!

I wish I had this program when all my children were younger. If you use it consistently, you won’t be disappointed.

As a member of the Homeschool Crew, I was given this product to review. I was not paid for this post and do not have to return the product to the vendor.  The opinions expressed in this post are those of the blog owner (me).
