Lapbooks from Journey Through Learning

Reptiles Lapbook with Study Guide Did you know that Journey Through Learning provides lapbook resources for those of us that are just not creative enough to put together a lapbook?  I have always loved the thought of lapbooks, but wouldn’t even know where to begin to put one together.

That’s where Journey Through Learning comes in. I was able to review two of their ebooks this past month. It was really an enjoyable experience both for me and my son. We had the Autumn and Reptile books. They say they are for grades 2 through 7.

Each day I would read the information sheet provided for me in the kit. Then the next page or two included the resources to fill out and cut out that related to that page. The information sheets were very informative and gave just enough information to hold my son’s attention. He is almost eight years old and very active. Hands on learning is the best thing for him.

I chose to compile my books at the end, but you could make each item and put it in your lapbook right away if you wanted to. The items you cut out are very colorful and have a very nice variety of formats. I don’t know all the lapbook terms, but I think we used most of the different types of formats that are available just in these two books.

The step by step instructions were great. I knew exactly what to do, how to fold things and where to place items. I have to say that I didn’t follow their instructions exactly, but I think they would be OK with that because they would probably say that it is OUR lapbook anyways. I didn’t use every item in the book because a few of them were a bit too hard for my son since he is just in second grade. We ended up putting our information onto a posterboard and displaying it that way instead of in the traditional lapbook format with file folders. It still turned out great.

The books I had were about 64 pages long and the shipping was FREE! You can order the ebook format that I used for $13, get the CD for $14, or get a printed copy for $21. I loved the ebook format, but if you don’t have a computer or printer, then the printed version would probably be best for you. I liked being able to print off just the pages I was going to be using.  Check out www.ajourneythroughlearning.com and see the books I reviewed plus a whole host of other lapbooks on every subject you can imagine!
