If you want to learn guitar on DVD, you might want to check out the Jean Welles Worship Guitar class. Volume one is a 68 minute DVD with 7 lessons in both English and Spanish.

I can play guitar now!! Well, I know a couple of chords and played around with it after watching this course. There are 7 worship songs like “Lord I Lift Your Name on High”, “More Precious Than Silver”, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”, and other popular worship songs included on this DVD.

The teacher Jean Welles is a sweet and gentle person and does a good job of giving you the desire and skills to be able to play these worship songs. The DVD goes through the parts of a guitar, tuning a guitar (although I would have liked a little more instruction on this part), and how to play certain chords to be able to play certain songs.

She introduces 2 chords and shows you how to play a simple worship song from those 2 chords. My guitar was out of tune and I’m not good at tuning it, but I enjoyed learning those chords and getting to put them together to play a real song.

I think anyone from age 10 on up could pick up this DVD and book and get inspired and instructed on how to start playing simple songs. Jean, of course, makes it look easy, but with a little practice you should be playing nicely in no time. It’s just like learning to ride a bike. It feels really awkward and impossible. If you are determined and keep at it, you should be able to complete this course with flying colors.

Jean gives you little tricks and tips and helps you know how to move your fingers from one chord to another and explains different picking patterns. Along with the DVD you also get a workbook with all the same information as what is on the DVD along with the music to the songs. A smaller booklet is included in the DVD case. It also has all the songs and chords in a more quick reference format.
