Rays Math

Dollar Homeschool produces the CDs for Rays Math. I received the Ray’s Arithmetic series as part of the TOS homeschool crew. This is quite a huge collection…

You receive the equivalent of 38 textbooks along with answer keys and teacher editions. They say it provides all the math you need from “Counting through Calculus.” There are also some Science courses included too (Physics, Astronomy, Surveying and Navigation to name a few).

This set includes all you would need for math for preschool through 12th grade. They remind me of the McGuffey readers when you look at their pages. Rays Arithmetic was taught for 50 years. If you like the McGuffeys mode of teaching, then you will probably like this series too.

The only thing that is different now is that you can view them right on your computer or print off only the pages you want to use. Most of the books are 200-400 pages long.

They use real world math including lots of word problems that can be used orally if you choose. There are sample pages available for you to view before you purchase along with a money back guarantee.

I found that the lessons were quite long, so you might need to split them up a bit. The lessons build upon one another but I found them difficult to follow. I like the idea of having all the math you need for all your children, but it seems that there might be some better ways of teaching the same material in a more understandable manner.

The Science books were not watered down at all. If your child is motivated to learn using this CD, he will have a thorough course to follow. There is no fluff included here – no videos or multimedia software that many children are use to. This is just structured learning with no frills.

If you are looking for a complete math program you can use for all your children for all years, then this $59 CD will be worth your investment. Even if you use Ray’s Artithmetic for a few years, you will get your money’s worth out of it.

As a member of the Homeschool Crew, I was given this product to review. I was not paid for this post and do not have to return the product to the vendor.  The opinions expressed in this post are those of the blog owner (me).
