Super Star Speech
Recently I had the opportunity to become familiar with Super Star Speech. If my children had speech problems, I would strongly consider getting it because I love to be able to do things at home on my own.
A friend of mine took her son to speech therapy through the school district when he was little. She had no intention of sending him to public school but felt that he was entitled to the therapy. After her son made great progress, the school started pressuring her to send him to preschool. If she had used Super Star Speech at home with her son she could have avoided lots of stress and struggle for herself.
I was able to review another aspect of this program called Super Star Games. These are simple games that you can order from your computer and print off. Most of them just require a few pages to be printed are are well worth many times their cost in ink.
We absolutely loved these games. I, as a mom, loved the tremendous knowledge that my children learned while playing and my children enjoyed the variety of the games. I’ll mention some of them here but they are so cheap and valuable, that I suggest you just get them for yourself and see how fun they can be.
If my children work well on their book work on Monday through Thursday, then I let them have Friday as “game day” or as a day to catch up on a few things we missed during the week. Since getting these games we have been able to insert these into our Friday game day and still been able to add to our learning.
There are basically 2 bundles that I recommend. You can get a History/Geography bundle or a Science bundle. You can order the games individually but the savings is well worth it since you will want more of these games anyways.:)
History/Geography bundle includes:
Colony Quest – You get a map of the 13 colonies and then question cards about them. You take turns reading the questions to each other (answers included on card) and if you get the question right, you can place one of your tokens on that state. If you get 2 tokens on a state, then that state is considered “settled”. I learned quite a bit from this game that I didn’t know. The more we played it the more we remembered the answers to the questions. Great history reinforcement!
Considering the Continents – This has the same premise as above but gives you questions about the continents. Another GREAT resource.
Explorers of the World – Here you learn about 24 world and US explorers. We didn’t get to play this one yet.
Exploring Egypt Game – Answer questions and race to be the first one to the top of the pyramid!
Inventors Game – Learn about 24 different inventors.
Road to Revolution – 48 questions to answer in the race to complete your timeline first.
Silly Snail Parts of Speech – Cute snail game that helps you choose one part of speech from each sample sentence card. Great way to reinforce your language curriculum or books.
I could go on and on about these, but basically you can get all these games (a $24.50 value if purchased separately) for $14.00 here.
Science Bundle
The set of Science bundle games are equally as educational and fun as the ones mentioned above.
All About Animals -Helps with classifying animals for grades K-5, but I certainly learned plenty too.
Climb the Vine – Race to the top of the vine as you answer multiple choice questions all about plants. The answers are right on the cards where you read the question.
Planets, Moon, and Stars – This game prompted us to find an acrostic for the order of the planets (My Very Eager Mother Just Sat Upon Nine Planets – if you want to know) since, in order to win the game, we had to collect all planets and put them in the proper order. I would have never been able to get them to be motivated to do this without this game.
Insect Game – Another fun way to reinforce the study of insects. You have to answer questions about insects to be able to collect all the parts to build your insect. I think this was my son’s favorite game of all of them so far. You can bet my son and I will both remember that insects have 6 legs!
The Science bundle is a $15.95 value for just $9.00. Your children really will remember more from these games than they will ever remember from a workbook or textbook!!
If you have a chance to check out Super Star Games and order either the Science or History bundles, you will be so glad you did. I just put each game into a sheet protector (you know us homeschool moms love sheet protectors!). Everything is easy to see and access when we are ready to play a game.

Thanks for your review! I am glad you enjoyed the games. I’m going to copy your sheet protector idea for storing them–Great idea!
I had the same experience with my son. He needed speech. I put him in Pre-k, made mention that he would be homeschooled. Then the guilt trip began. It was a bit ruthless, even if it was well meant. We found Super Star Speech too and it gave me the confidence that I was not going to be a bad mom for taking him out of school.
