Thanksgiving Resources
I have collected some Thanksgiving resources for you to use this season. I will be posting more right up until Thanksgiving. Let me know what you think.
Here’s a great site – Thanksgiving crafts for ages K-3. In order to get the PDFs of the booklets you have to be a member of their site, but you can still get many great ideas here. There are all kinds of craft projects that might remind you of things that you did back in elementary school. All the projects use items that you will probably already have around your house.
For some health and nutrition work, your older children can use this handy page for catagorizing their Thanksgiving meal into food groups.
Your early elementary students will like this Thanksgiving turkey page for their 6’s addition facts.
At the Plimoth Plantation site you will find several hands on activities. There are things you can make along with recipes and coloring pages. There is a game of Fox and Geese there that they say is difficult to win. You will also find instructions there for a Wampanoag Toss and Catch game that your children can make. The site included “Talk Like a Pilgrim” complete with phrases, what they mean and even audio that you can listen to that tells you exactly how the phrase was spoken.
You can also link to Pilgrim children stories at the site where they tell stories through the eyes of a Pilgrim child. They even highlight certain vocabulary terms like “goodwife” and “fortnight” with a link to an explanation of the term.
I’m not usually into coloring pages but at the Crayola site they have both coloring AND craft pages here all relating to Thanksgiving.
That should give you enough material to work with for a few days. Let me know what you think.
