Virginia Soaps and Scents Review
Our homeschooling adventures have never involved making our own soap. They have involved using homemade soap before, but not making it. I had also never heard of Virginia Soaps and Scents before until a little package arrived at my door. Apparently this homeschool family with 9 children experimented with soap making one day and it eventually turned into a family business.
We received several different bars of soap (fresh orange, oatmeal milk and honey, and coconut lemongrass), a shampoo bar and a packet for making laundry detergent. I have a friend that makes all of these items so I was familiar with all of these types of products.
My daughter is very much into natural products and is constantly researching products and telling me about chemicals and what products are good and bad. It is certainly a good idea to avoid chemicals as much as possible. Using VSS products will help you do that since their products are all made without chemicals.
There are so many different fragrances and products that I won’t be able to mention them all. You will have to visit their site to get a full tour.
Basically, they carry 20 different fragrances of olive oil soaps in the 4.75 oz size. You can also get any of their products with no fragrance. The scents I received were all very pleasant and not overpowering at all. They all provided a very good lather and look like they will last a very long time!
I also received a 5 1/2 oz shampoo bar. You just wet your hair and rub the bar over your entire head. It provides a very nice lather and you can use any extra to wash the rest of your body too. Some say you can use this soap without conditioner, but I wasn’t able to. I guess it just depends on your hair type and water contents. You save lots of money here because 1 bar of this soap will last you as long as a large bottle of shampoo without all the chemicals.
The laundry soap kit is a great money saver too. It only takes about 10 minutes to mix it up and comes with directions on how to do it. They say it will do 64 loads of laundry if you use 1/2 cup – all for $4.95 for the kit or $3.95 for just the bar (you add your own washing soda and borax). For those of you that like big suds and scented laundry, this mix will not produce suds or give you scented clothes like the big name chemical filled laundry detergents you can buy at the store. It will just clean your clothes, plain and simple
These soaps come in many great gift sets too. They would make a nice gift for the person that is hard to buy for because everyone has to wash so everyone could use these. Ladies especially like to get an item they can use to pamper themselves.
The bars are $4.50 each, 3 for $12, buy 4 get 1 free, or 10 for $35.00. The shampoo bars are a little bigger and cost $5.50 each. You really do need to check out their website and get a full view of what they have to offer.
I encourage you to try out Virginia Soaps and Scents. You’ll be glad you did!
